National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is the perfect time to thank the nurses in your community for their dedication.

At Nurses & Company as you can well imagine we think every week should be nurses week! But we appreciate the official Nurses Week too.

The American Nurses Association defines nursing as the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. Wow! That is a lot of ground to cover. I know that our nurses take this definition to heart each and every day as they care for patients, educate families and provide services throughout the community.

Each day home health and hospice nurses care for patients throughout the community in their home setting. They become so much more than a nurse! For many in the community they are their only visitors, they are their friends, their adopted family, and in some cases their guardian angels. It takes a special type of person to be a nurse and I am so pleased to call so many of them my friends.

I began Nurses & Company over 20 years ago determined to give nurses a voice in the business of health care. I am please to say that today we remain nurse owned and managed, and we have a staff of 35 nurses with a combined experience of over 100 years. Thank you to all those who have answered the call to care for people in their homes. You are all amazing. Happy Nurses Week!

We may grow older every year but age is only a number. Let’s live fully, laugh a-lot, and continually learn so that together we can age with grace.
