Conference Foes Clash in Home Opener

Timberland and Howell North face off at 7 p.m. in Wentzville.

There will be anticipation and excitement in the air when hosts tonight at 7 p.m. at Scott Swofford Memorial Stadium in .

Howells North’s Head Coach John Brune leads his Knights on the field with hopes to improve on their dismal 3-7 record last season and 1-5 in conference play.

Likewise Timberland head Coach Craig Collins has had some adjustments to make moving into the much-tougher Gateway Athletic Conference South. Last year the Wolves finished 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.

On offense, Timberland is led by Junior Quarterback Ryan Bainbridge. Receivers Ben Steinkamp and Tyler Shumaker lead the team in receptions and Lucas Jordan look to make the most of his opportunity to replace tailback Halleem Rayford.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Wolves look to senior linebacker Dane Willman to keep opponents out of the end zone.

One season ago, the Wolves were the victors when the two teams met, by a score of 42-21. The Wolves and Knights finished fifth and sixth in the GAC South last season respectively.
