DAR Chapter Celebrates First Anniversary

A
birthday celebration will be enjoyed by Members and prospective members of the Caroline
Close Stuart Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (NSDAR) at their November meeting in Lake St. Louis, Missouri.  Lamira Parks, Vice President General and
Honorary State Regent will be the honored guest and speaker talking about the
Boone's Lick Trail Markers.

In celebration of the Chapters first
year members will dress in Colonial era outfits created by members as a unique
way to connect with their Revolutionary War Patriots.  Outfits are “topped off” with cleverly created
hats of the same time period.

American Revolution.  8 Women recently admitted into the DAR will take their Oath
of Membership into the Society at the meeting, including Judy Blandino,
Samantha Blandino, Vicky Horton, Heather Ivancic, Mary Ivancic, Patty McEwen,
Rose Mirin, and Judy Moresi.

The
Chapter will also honor Cynthia Keagy with a Community Service Award for her
work in Haiti with House of Hope, a home for girls.  Locally, Keagy is continually collecting and
donating clothing and food to those in need in the St. Charles county area
where she lives.

Interest in a Lake St. Louis chapter is
strong, Wisner said.  She added over 85  members have joined the chapter in the first
year.  "We are amazed at the
responses from women who are excited to join a chapter in their own
community," she said.

As Wisner puts it, tracking your family’s
roots is “just like a puzzle and you keep working your way back,” one piece of
information at a time.  If people enjoy
history and want to help perpetuate our beginning roots this is the place you
should be,” she says.  Tracing your family roots back further than two or
three generations can be a daunting challenge.
However, if you manage to connect your ancestral line directly to a
patriot of the American Revolutionary War, you could be eligible to join the
new DAR Chapter.

Interested
women who would like to attend the November meeting must make reservation for
the lunch portion of the meeting.  For
more information about the DAR or to make reservations contact Regent, Karen
Wisner at 314-772-9486. You may also
