Dardenne Prairie Board of Aldermen Repeals Multi-Family Zoning Ordinance, Plans To Buy iPads
The board deleted a zoning ordinance to make way for the Page Avenue Extension and plans to purchase iPads to save on printing costs.

At Wednesday nightβs Board of Aldermen meeting, the board voted unanimously to delete an entire ordinance from the cityβs municipal code.
The βR-Mβ Multiple Family Residential District ordinance was enacted so Dardenne Prairie could have a specific zone in the city for multiple-family homes, like condos.
Outside of this zone in the downtown area, only single-family residences were allowed.
The Missouri Department of Transportation eventually plans to develop a portion of the Page Avenue Extension into Dardenne Prairie.
Ward 1 Alderman Scott Kolbe said the change is necessary to accommodate the extension.
βThe areas that it would really fit were more suited for commercial development as Page is getting ready to come in,β Kolbe said. βSo, we want to encourage commercial development in the areas that the R-M zoning would have applied.β
was approved by the East-West Gateway Board of Directors two weeks ago.
The board also plans to buy a total of nine iPads. One for each ward alderman as well as the city clerk and city administrator.
Ward 2 Alderman Kevin Harris said the purchase would save the city money.
βWe are spending money to do copies and we are wasting a lot on paper. This is a cheaper more effective way that we can communicate.β
Each iPad would cost around $350, a total cost of $3,141. Harris said board members shopped around for the iPads and that was the cheapest they could find.
Alderman Kolbe said the cost for the iPads outweighs the amount of money the board currently spends on printing costs and copies. Kolbe said the iPads will also eliminate the cost for a new staff member to make print copies for the aldermen.
Alderman Bob Menichino was absent from the meeting.
