Sports run deep in Wentzville, and Holt High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Indians uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Holt High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


Tim Melville – Perfect-Game Phenom and Global Pro Pitcher

A Wentzville Holt High School standout, Tim Melville burst onto the national radar in 2007 when he threw a perfect game and was named Aflac National Player of the Year. Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 2008 MLB Draft, Melville’s career became a testament to perseverance, spanning multiple MLB organizations including the Reds, Twins, Padres and Rockies. Ross Detwiler – First-Round MLB Pick and World Baseball Classic Contributor

Ross Detwiler grew up in Wentzville and starred at Holt High School before becoming one of the most accomplished professional athletes from the area. A first-round pick (sixth overall) by the Washington Nationals in the 2007 MLB Draft, Detwiler carved out a long MLB career that included time with more than nine teams and a role on Team USA in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Kristin Boeker – All-State Athlete Turned Division I Soccer Builder

Kristin Boeker was a rare three-sport standout at Wentzville Holt, earning All-State honors and setting a school record with 12 varsity letters across basketball, soccer and softball. She went on to a decorated collegiate soccer career at the University of Missouri before transitioning seamlessly into coaching. Boeker played a key role in launching and building UTSA’s Division I women’s soccer program and later held leadership roles at Eastern Illinois and Keene State. Dan Alexander – Record-Setting Nebraska Star and Arena Football Legend

A dominant multi-sport athlete at Wentzville Holt High School, Dan Alexander captured a Missouri state wrestling title before becoming a college football force at Nebraska. He etched his name into Cornhuskers history with a record-setting 240-yard performance in the 2000 Alamo Bowl and later played in the NFL and Arena Football League. Austin Bone – Anchor of the Trenches and Emerging College Lineman

Austin Bone emerged from Wentzville Holt High School as a dominant interior lineman, earning first-team all-conference and all-district honors while serving as a team captain.
