St. Charles County Patch sites are polling readers on a weekly basis to gauge their interest in the election, its candidates and what issues are most important to them.

The funny thing about today's Missouri presidential preference primary? It matters just as much as this unscientific poll in terms of who will capture the Republican presidential nominee.Β
It's true,Β theΒ , meaningΒ the GOP nominee will be chosen at a March 17 caucus rather than at the polls today.Β
But there's still plenty to be interested in. While today's primary is largely a beauty contest, it will still show who Missouri voters favor at this point. Should one nominee do better or worse than expected, you can surely expect to see attack ads on their character.

With Newt Gingrich sitting the Missouri primary out, Nevada winner and front-runner Mitt Romney took aim at rival Rick Santorum, according to CNN, indicating concern that the conservative Santorum might be poised for a strong showing in this week's Republican presidential contests.Β
Gingrich, meanwhile, told CNN heΒ is plotting a Southern revival, while Rick Santorum and Ron Paul seek stronger showings in upcoming caucuses to slow front-runner Mitt Romney's momentum after his second straight victory in the Republican presidential race.

And things don't appear to slow down any time soon, Wolf Blitzer writes:
We have four candidates in the race right now, and we will probably have four candidates in the race in the coming weeks no matter what happens this month.
