Lake Saint Louis to Set Mobile Food Vendor Regulations

The board will hear a first reading on the bill at their regular meeting on June 18.

Lake Saint Louis is considering adding regulation to the city code that deal with mobile food vendors in the city. The bill authorizing the regulations is on the agenda for a first reading at tonight's regular meeting.

It is possible that the bill could be given a second reading and a final vote in the same meeting.

The regulations currently under consideration lay out the following restrictions on the vendors:

  • They may not operate in a residentially-zoned area (will not affect ice cream trucks, milk deliveries and similar uses that are licenses as a separate type of business under current code).
  • They may not operate on public streets.
  • They must provide permission in wrting from any property owner on whose property they plan to operate.
  • They may not operate more than five days in a seven-day period, unless otherwise authorized by the Board or as part of a special event permit.
  • They must comply with all applicable St. Charles County health codes, and must provide a copy of a County health permit.
  • They may not operate in designated fire lanes or other designated "no parking" zones.

In addition, the city says that all locations at which mobile food vendors are selling food must have an appropriate trash receptable. City staff reserves the right to require board approval for any mobile food vendor.
