New Hope for Families – Free Educational Seminars in Wentzville
New Hope Counseling Services is offering a series of free educational seminars on Sunday evenings in Wentzville. A panel of counselors and educators will also be present during these sessions to answer questions from participants and share their experiences as both parents and professionals.
The first session, on March 22 at 4:30-6 p.m., will focus on stress, anxiety and depression in children. It will be led by Michael Coggin, a licensed professional counselor and director of New Hope Counseling. The session will cover reasons a child experiences difficult emotions and will provide resources for caring for children during these hard times. A question and answer session will allow participants to ask questions (anonymously if desired) about their own experience or concerns.

“All of us go through seasons of stress and anxiety, our kids included. But these seasons can make the experience of parenting difficult,” said Luke Calvin, licensed professional counselor with New Hope Counseling Services in Wentzville.
Calvin said that one of the main goals of these sessions is to help parents realize they are not alone. “Parenting can feel like a really isolated experience. We can start to believe that we, or our kids, are the only ones struggling this way. These sessions are a chance to not only learn how to love and lead our kids well, but are also a chance for parents to see and experience that they don’t have to do it alone,” he said.
