Teen Charged as Adult in Shell Robbery

Three of four suspects in the March 8 robbery have been charged with robbery and armed criminal action.

Seventeen-year-old Sylvester Hill III was charged as an adult this week with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of first-degree armed criminal action  in connection with the robbery of the Shell Station at 1000 Lake Saint Louis Boulevard on March 8.

Hill, 17, with Ricky Cody, 17, and Latoya M. Carter, 26, were all charged in the robbery of the Shell Station and the subsequent robbery of a Circle K convenience store in St. Charles.

Missouri Casenet lists addresses for Hill and Cody in St. Louis, and an address on Pinewood in O'Fallon for Carter.

As , the suspects forced the Shell clerk at gunpoint to hand over $55 and 23 packs of cigarettes. Witnesses saw the two suspects run from the gas station and get into a white Chrysler Sebring.

Lake Saint Louis Police immediately notified surrounding agencies. At 11 p.m., a Circle K station on Truman Boulevard near I-70 in St. Charles was also robbed. The suspects' vehicle matched the description of the car used in the earlier robbery in Lake Saint Louis.

About 40 minutes later, a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper in St. Louis County stopped a vehicle on Interstate 70 near St. Charles Rock Road. The car matched the description of the car used in both robberies, and the car's occupants were taken into custody.

According to a story in STLToday, Hill was 16 years old at the time he was arrested, and the case was originally in the hands of juvenile authorities.
