Triathlon Becomes Biathlon; Rain Delays Start of Race

Thunderstorm this morning caused cancellations and delays for the Lake Saint Louis Triathlon.

Organizers of the Lake Saint Louis Triathlon canceled the swimming part of the race this morning when a thunderstorm rolled through the area.

Jason Young, patch freelance writer, reported that concerns about lightning forced organizers to drop the swimming portion of the triathlon and delay the start of the biking and running portions by an hour to an hour and a half.

The Lake Saint Louis Triathlon, co-sponsored by the City of Lake Saint Louis Parks and Recreation Department and the Lake Saint Louis Community Association, is in its 29th year. More than 750 participants were registered for the triathlon.
