Wentzville Board of Aldermen to Approve Contracts for Public Works, Finance Directors

The city has been without a permanent public works director for a year.

Contracts for the Wentzville's new public works director and director of finance will be up for approval at Wednesday night's regular board of aldermen meeting.

With the board's approval, the city is offering a contract to Susan Mueller for the position of director of public works at a $96,500 annual salary, plus the use of a city vehicle and cell phone.

A contract for the city's finance director is also up for approval. The position is being offered to Jeffrey D. Lenk at a $90,000 annual salary.

Douglas Lee has been serving as the interim director of public works after the city's dismissal of Scott Smith in July 2012.Β

In December, the city contracted with Mercer Group, a recruiting firm, at the cost of $15,500. A contract was offered to Christoper Knudsen last month, but Knudsen declined the city's offer.

Wentzville has been without a permanent finance director since the end of 2012, when Dennis Walsh retired. Walsh had been serving as both finance director and interim city administrator.

After Walsh left, the city contracted with Interim City Management for temporary services, and two individuals have served in that position for the past five months.
