Wentzville Moves 2012 Graduation Ceremonies

The Board Thursday approved moving graduation ceremonies for students at and High Schools in 2012.

The move was made as part of a vote to amend the 2011-12 school calendar.

The original plan had graduation ceremonies slated for the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend 2012 at . School officials recommended the move due to a growth in class size at the schools, creating crowded ceremonies.

Each school currently holds its own ceremony, one after the other. Next year, the graduations will be held on different weeknights.

One class will graduate on a Tuesday night and the other on a Wednesday night at the in St. Charles.

Moving the ceremonies next year is preemptive. Right now the ceremonies are crowded; soon they will exceed capacity. Also, with the passage of Proposition 3 in April, the district will have a third high school class to graduate in coming years.

2011 Graduation

Wentzville will hold graduation ceremonies at the Robert Hyland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Lindenwood University on Saturday, May 28.

The Timberland ceremony is at 10:30 a.m., and the Holt event is at 2:30 p.m.

Admission is by ticket only, as there is limited seating in the venue.
