Wentzville Parks Department to Open Newest Playground
A ribbon cutting will be held at Memorial Park on Nov. 15.
The Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department is ready to showcase its newest playground and renovations to . The public is invited to attend a ribbon cutting at the new playground at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Memorial Park was purchased in 1968 with monies awarded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund, over the years the park increased in size and several amenities were added.Β
In 2009, the Parks Department recognized a need to renovate and update some of the amenities and applied for another grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which is administered through the state of Missouri by the State Interagency Council for Outdoor Recreation (SIACOR) and the Department of Natural Resources. The city was awarded a grant to renovate the park through removal of old building foundations, installation of soccer/football goals, park benches, an ADA accessible side walk, and replacement of the 15 year old playground.

βThe athletic field and playground brings new life to the park, increasing the use by the general public and provides a safe and accessible place to play for the children in the neighborhood. Completion of this project meets several of the needs in our growing community and is just a step toward providing world class parks and recreation for the citizens of ,β said Dottie Phillips, Recreation Superintendent.
