Wentzville to Hold Graduations Saturday

The  will hold graduation ceremonies at the Robert Hyland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Lindenwood University on Saturday.

 will graduate 345 seniors 10:30 a.m., and the  ceremony at 2:30 p.m. will feature 389 students. Admission to both events is by ticket only, as there is limited seating in the venue.

The Wentzville District does not name valedictorians and salutatorians. The district instead honors a large group of high achieving students who achieve cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude status.

Each principal chooses a student to speak at their respective ceremonies. Timberland used a committee to choose the student speaker.

For Timberland, the student speaker is Amber Hageman, O'Fallon. Holt's speaker is Kaitlin Larkin, Lake Saint Louis. 

Cum laude

• College preparatory certificate
• Minimum of a 3.5 GPA
• One credit from the list of qualifying courses
• Two high school activities
• Good citizenship

Magna cum laude

• College preparatory certificate
• Minimum of a 3.75 GPA
• Two credits from the list of qualifying courses
• Three high school activities
• Good citizenship

Summa cum laude

• College preparatory certificate
• Minimum of a 4.0 GPA
• Three credits from the list of qualifying courses
• Four high school activities
• Good citizenship

The qualifying courses include: a cappella choir (three-year minimum), fourth year band, AP music theory, AP art history, AP studio art, advanced business technology, AP computer science, architectural structures and design technology, advanced marketing, AP calculus, AP statistics, AP biology, AP chemistry, AP physics B, AP environmental science, independent science research, anatomy and physiology, AP language and composition, AP English literature and composition, AP world history, AP human geography, AP American history, French IV, Spanish IV, German IV, child development III or advanced student leadership.
