Whiz Kid: Maddie Kelly

• Accomplishment: Kelly, a graduate of , is a sophomore member of the 2011 East Central College Falcons volleyball program. Kelly is one of the captains for the Falcons this season along with fellow sophomore Charis Stewart. 
• Key to Awesomeness: As a freshman, Kelly established a new ECC program record for digs in a season with 870. She also served 40 aces. Kelly enters 2011 just 87 digs shy of breaking the program record for career digs. 

East Central College, located in Union, was ranked 11th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II preseason national poll. Lisa Mathes-Peters is the new head coach of the program this season and she is being assisted by former ECC player Megan (Santhuff) Elsenrath. 

ECC has a preseason event at Maryville University in St. Louis Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. 

The Falcons tied for 11th place in the 2010 national tournament while going 37-9 and winning the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference title. 

The 2010 season was the best since the program was restored prior to the 2007 season. 

ECC has won the NJCAA Division II District O title and advanced to the national tournament during the past three seasons. The 11th-place finish posted by the team last year was the best in school history.
