Authorities say the attack appears to stem from a family disturbance, with one survivor hospitalized and investigators still working to clarify relationships, motives, and full victim details.
3. Montana shooting, fire kills multiple, including children (amedpost.com) — Billings authorities are investigating a deadly house shooting and fire that killed multiple adults and children at a local home Sunday evening. Police say the suspect later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while fire and smoke quickly engulfed the residence, complicating rescue and evidence recovery as officials work to identify victims and determine a motive.
4. Injured teen rescued by helicopter from remote Montana trail (newsnationnow.com) — Billings-based Montana Army National Guard crews airlifted a seriously injured 15-year-old hiker from a remote trail near Moon Lake in the Beartooths last Thursday, flying him to Beartooth Billings Clinic in Red Lodge. The HH-60M Black Hawk launched and returned to the Billings aviation facility in a two-hour mission, marking the second Guard helicopter rescue this year from their Billings base.
5. Grazing Expo 2026 Returns to Billings with Expanded Education, Networking and Producer Resources - AG INFORMATION NETWORK OF THE WEST (aginfo.net) — Billings will host the Montana Grazing Lands Coalition's Grazing Expo 2026 from September 10–13, bringing ranchers and ag professionals together for workshops, keynote talks, and networking. Five themed education tracks will cover business basics, careers, livestock management, grazing strategies, and collaborative conservation, with practical ideas attendees can take home to their own operations.
