New trail corridor plan approved on Bozeman's west side (nbcmontana.com) — Bozeman is moving ahead with a major new 3.5‑mile trail corridor on the city's west side, connecting neighborhoods from East Valley Center Road to Gallatin Valley Mall. With nearly one in five residents living within a half‑mile of the route, the phased project will add playground upgrades, gathering areas, fitness spaces and a possible dog park, with at least $1.1 million already budgeted.
2. Zachary Burton (asu.edu) — Bozeman readers may be interested to know that Montana State University's inaugural Assistant Professor of Critical Resources, Zachary Burton, is based right here in town while maintaining a global speaking presence. His work spans high‑profile talks for institutions from The World Bank to TEDx, and he's also recognized for creating the acclaimed mental‑health‑focused play "The Manic Monologues."
3. Big Sky Food and Wine Festival donates hundreds of pounds of leftover food to local food banks (kbzk.com) — Leftover gourmet food from the inaugural Big Sky Food and Wine Festival is being shared with local families through the Big Sky Community Food Bank and Gallatin Valley Food Bank, which serves thousands of area residents. Any prepared meals that can't be donated will still be kept out of the landfill through composting on chef Eduardo Garcia's farm or with Happy Trash in Bozeman, underscoring a regional push for more sustainable events.
4. CS Seminar: Power Supply and Management for AI Data Centers (wayne.edu) — An upcoming computer science seminar will feature Dr. Caisheng Wang, an MSU Bozeman Ph.D. graduate and honorary citizen of Bozeman, discussing how booming AI data centers are reshaping power demand and grid planning. His talk will unpack how these facilities manage massive, fast‑changing electrical loads and explore new strategies for integrating them with renewable energy and modern power systems, with a virtual attendance option available.
