Organized by Dear Butte and Working Quiet with support from local funders, the three-day event features Irish author Billy O’Callaghan, a ghost sign walking tour, a trolley ride, and sessions at Montana Tech and the Butte archives. Residents can still check the schedule and sign up online.

• Work underway on largest Superfund project in Silver Bow Corridor (nbcmontana.com) — Butte residents are seeing major Superfund cleanup work ramp up at the 30-acre Diggings East site along the Silver Bow Corridor, with hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of mine waste being removed over the next 4–5 years. Temporary traffic lights and truck routes on Kaw, George, Montana, and Excelsior streets will support hauling to the Butte Mine Wastes Repository. When finished, the area will become a public green space and improve Silver Bow Creek’s water quality.

• UM Western professor to explore history of fisheries, conservation in southwest Montana (nbcmontana.com) — A November 4 talk in Dillon will dive into the history of Progressive Era fisheries and the “fish trains” that once ran between Butte, Dillon, and Armstead.
