Stitched with care: Quilters give Helena area students extra comfort (ktvh.com) — If you have a child in a Helena or East Helena elementary school, they may soon find extra comfort in the nurse's office thanks to 65 handmade quilts from the Friendship Quilters. The group started with Warren Elementary's needs and now invites fabric donations through Echo Church to keep providing cozy, caring blankets for local students.
   

2. Department of Labor and Industry, Helena, Montana (e-architect.com) — Helena residents now host the Montana Department of Labor & Industry's new Weights & Measures and Building Codes facility, a 5,500-square-foot complex designed for trucks, labs, and public services. The purpose-built building improves long-term efficiency for inspections that protect fair commerce and safe construction, with design touches inspired by the nearby Sleeping Giant.
   

3. NorthWestern Energy replacing aging pipeline to strengthen Montana's natural gas system (ktvh.com) — Natural gas customers around Helena should know that NorthWestern Energy is replacing a five-and-a-half-mile transmission pipeline between Silver City and the Helena junction, a key backbone of Montana's gas system. The $9 million project, running through mid-October, is designed to boost long-term reliability and safety while restoring disturbed land in cooperation with local property owners.
   

4. Why Montana's New Heritage Center Has A Smudge Room (560kmon.com) — Visitors from Helena and beyond will find a unique smudge room inside the new $107 million Montana Heritage Center, purpose-built for Indigenous cleansing and blessing ceremonies. The space, championed by Northern Cheyenne architect Major Robinson, includes special ventilation and design elements that weave Indigenous culture into how the museum functions every day.
   

5. Montana's new law expands access to experimental drugs (diyatvusa.com) — From Helena, state health officials are rolling out a new law that lets Montanans seek certain experimental treatments through licensed centers once they've passed early safety trials. For Helena patients and providers, the program could eventually open access to options like an investigational hearing-impairment therapy, though no treatment centers have been licensed yet and strict review-board oversight is required.
