Today's riddle: How do billboards talk? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. City of Helena seeking citizen feedback through FlashVote (ktvh.com) — Helena residents are being invited to sign up for quick FlashVote surveys that will directly inform upcoming city decisions. You can choose to participate by email, text, or phone, and each survey stays open for 48 hours. Responses are anonymous to the city, and participants automatically receive a summary showing how their views compare with others.
2. City approves increase in Helena water and wastewater rates (ktvh.com) — Helena's water and wastewater rates are going up Nov. 1, with the average resident expected to pay about $4.64 more per month for water alone. City officials say the 9% water and 8.5% wastewater hikes are needed to replace aging infrastructure, cover inflation and operating costs, and fund new water meters and capital projects. Expect the higher charges on bills after the effective date.
3. Changemakers encouraged to attend local food and agriculture summit (farms.com) — A statewide food and agriculture summit is coming to Helena on October 23–24, bringing together farmers, distributors, nonprofits, and policymakers to boost Montana-grown food on local tables. Organizers hope to reverse the sharp decline in in-state food consumption and are inviting community-minded residents, businesses, and advocates from Helena and beyond to help shape practical solutions.
4. Carroll College receives FEMA grant to enhance campus safety (helenair.com) — Carroll College in Helena has secured a $380,000 FEMA grant to upgrade security at Borromeo Hall and the Equine Center on Lincoln Road. The funding will pay for new residence hall door locks, better lighting, video surveillance, and campuswide emergency training. These improvements aim to boost safety for students, staff, and visitors while freeing other resources for academics and student services.
