Louis Archambault Gallery Opening

Event Details

618 Helena Ave, Helena, MT, 59601

The Lewis and Clark County Historical Society will open a new exhibit, "Planning the Expedition," at the McCahon Memorial Gallery with a free public reception on Thursday, September 10th at 7:00 p.m.

The exhibit features the first painting in a ten-part series by Helena artist Louis Archambault, chronicling the Lewis and Clark expedition. This debut work depicts a pivotal moment in late summer 1802: a 35-year-old Meriwether Lewis meeting with President Thomas Jefferson on the deck of Monticello to plan the journey that would chart the newly acquired western territories and seek a water route to the Pacific.

The opening reception is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the painting up close and learn more about the series as it develops.

"Planning the Expedition" will be on view in the McCahon Memorial Gallery from September through October.
