The playground fall zone material has become infested with field bindweed that has negatively impacted the wood material’s consistency and resiliency for fall protection. In general, Parks and Recreation does not use herbicides near playgrounds. To prevent a recurrence of this noxious weed, the playground will be closed later this week for herbicide treatment and will be closed again on Wednesday, July 14 for the installation of new fall-zone material, engineered wood fiber chips. The treated area will be posted with an herbicide application notice prior to and after the application.
