The City is reviewing the current subdivision and subdivision exemption (especially townhome exemption development (TED)) process and rules, to understand ways they could be improved. Reviewing the current process and rules will help to give us ideas on ways to provide increased predictability for everyone engaged in the development process while also ensuring that our high community standards and response to public health and safety concerns (like consideration of potential areas of flooding and ensuring access for emergency service) remain in place.

New subdivisions and TED projects may occur in any parts of the city that can accommodate new development while following the zoning rules of the area. They accommodate new areas for development or address new ways that development may fit within the existing landscape of our community. Exploring these processes can help to provide much-needed new housing supply and address issues of affordability.

Through this comprehensive review, the City will have a set of recommendations for how to change the rules and a set of priorities for determining which rules should be revised. This project will result in a summary Recommendations Report outlining recommended future steps.Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts.
