• NSP Raises Awareness for Cancer Fighters with Pink Patch Project (ruralradio.com) — North Platte residents can support cancer fighters this October by buying a $10 pink Nebraska State Patrol shoulder patch at the local NSP troop office, with proceeds going to Nebraska's Hereditary Cancer Foundation. Troopers statewide may wear the pink patches during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, turning a familiar uniform symbol into a visible show of solidarity with families facing hereditary cancer.
• 169 H-1B petitions filed by employers classified under the Health Care and Social Assistance industry in Nebraska in 2025 (businessdailynetwork.com) — Health-care employers across Nebraska, including North Platte Nebraska Hospital Corporation, relied on H-1B visas in 2025 to fill specialized roles, with all nine local petitions approved. Overall, Nebraska's Health Care and Social Assistance sector filed 169 petitions, part of a broader statewide increase in skilled-worker immigration that saw approval rates here slightly outpace the national average.
• Terry Boyd Fletcher Sr., 76, North Platte (northplattebulletin.com) — North Platte is mourning longtime resident and Navy veteran Terry Boyd Fletcher Sr., who passed away Sept. 22 at his farm surrounded by family. A retired Union Pacific employee and former Mid-Plains instructor, he leaves a large blended family and many friends. Memorials are requested to the Maxwell Gun Club via Sandhills State Bank in North Platte, with a private graveside service planned.
