Union leaders, local candidates, and the Greater Omaha Chamber are now focused on severance, job fairs, and finding new employers to reuse the site so affected families can stay and work in the metro.

Omaha man uses TikTok to help bikers, pedestrians navigate Farnam Street construction (wowt.com) — If you bike or walk through downtown Omaha's construction zones, one local rider is mapping safer routes on TikTok while crash numbers for cyclists remain concerning. He shares tips on using mapping apps, adjusting routes, and even hopping on sidewalks carefully, as the Streetcar Authority simultaneously works to speed construction, reopen streets, and support affected businesses.
3. Blondo Street construction mix-up causes traffic backups near Waterloo (wowt.com) — If you've been stuck on Blondo near Waterloo, a construction mix-up is to blame, but relief is coming soon. With West Dodge already under construction, a second project mistakenly narrowed Blondo to one lane, causing backups; county engineers now say quick-dry concrete should restore two-way traffic by tomorrow morning.
4. Omaha small businesses can apply for new loans to offset streetcar construction impacts (3newsnow.com) — Small businesses along Omaha's streetcar construction corridor can now apply for special Nebraska Enterprise Fund loans, including partially forgivable options, to help cover losses and payroll. At a North Omaha town hall, owners described how street closures and access issues are hurting revenue, while organizers outlined up to $75,000 forgivable and $100,000 low-interest loans aimed at keeping these neighborhood shops afloat.

Dozens of clients allege Omaha travel agent left them with canceled reservations after taking thousands upfront (wowt.com) — Several Omaha-area families say a local travel agent took thousands of dollars for destination weddings and vacations, only for flights and resorts to vanish or checks to bounce. Clients are now comparing notes, seeking help from other agents, and sharing information on how to file official complaints as they try to salvage long-planned trips.
