Omaha Children's Museum names new CEO (wowt.com) — Omaha families will see new leadership at the Omaha Children's Museum as veteran museum professional Dr. Richard Kissel steps in as CEO and leads a major rebranding effort. While a proposed riverfront building is on hold, the museum is prioritizing new exhibits, expanded programming, better accessibility, and $10 annual passes for qualifying families to keep visits affordable.
   

2. Blackstone's Fifth House reopens after receiving grant for businesses impacted by streetcar construction (3newsnow.com) — Omaha's Fifth House restaurant in the Blackstone neighborhood has reopened after a brief closure caused by streetcar construction, helped by a Nebraska Enterprise Fund grant. To support businesses along the Omaha Streetcar route, neighbors are invited to a free Rally on the Route block party Saturday from 2–8 p.m. on 16th Street between Farnam and Harney.
   

3. Omaha high school football teams prepare for extreme heat (wowt.com) — Omaha high school football programs are adjusting practices and game plans as dangerous heat could force cancellations or delays Friday, with Omaha Public Schools following NSAA heat-safety guidelines. Coaches are moving workouts indoors, adding water breaks, and using wet-bulb temperature readings to decide if games can safely be played or must be postponed.
   

4. Clair Community Garden rebuilds with community support after summer vandalism (3newsnow.com) — After vandalism damaged Clair Community Garden, North Omaha neighbors and local businesses quickly stepped up with donations of cameras, plants, and money to restore the space. A new remote camera system and fresh crops from Mulhall's are helping Pastor Portia Cavitt keep the garden secure while continuing to fight food insecurity in the neighborhood.
   

5. Omaha woman sets goal ahead of 60th birthday (ketv.com) — An Omaha publisher and CEO is marking her 60th birthday by walking 60 different 5K races this year, many tied to local charities. She's already completed half her goal, using the events to manage stress, support causes, and encourage others to "show up" for their own health and community, often inviting friends to join her.
