Before the Casket gives voice to gun violence victims and the communities they leave behind (3newsnow.com) — Omaha residents concerned about gun violence can attend the free "Before the Casket" presentation Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Led in part by Omaha Police Lt. Antwone Finch, the program walks through a homicide's impact on families, first responders, and neighborhoods, aiming to spark earlier, life-saving conversations—plus attendees can enter a PS5 raffle.
   

2. $10M Omaha residential facility for combat-maimed vets aims to heal wounds medicine can't • Nebraska Examiner (nebraskaexaminer.com) — A new $10 million Dunham House assisted living facility near 60th and State in Omaha is preparing to welcome severely wounded post‑9/11 veterans from across the country. Funded entirely by private donations and run by Omaha-based Wounded Warriors Family Support, the 30-unit complex and planned memorial will also bring jobs, services, and a new national veterans landmark to the city.
   

3. Fatal crash near 204th St. and Bennington Road (ketv.com) — A serious crash at 204th Street and Bennington Road left one person dead and another critically injured, and has shut down 204th from Rainwood Road to Highway 26. With the semi blocking the intersection and investigators on scene, Omaha-area drivers should avoid the area and instead use 216th or 180th Streets while authorities work to reopen the roadway.
   

4. World O Water event challenges Omaha residents to think about how they protect the local water (3newsnow.com) — Omaha residents spent Sunday exploring how their everyday choices affect the city's drinking water and nearby rivers at the World O Water event. City public works staff stressed that simple steps like picking up litter and preventing pollution at home are crucial to protecting Omaha's limited water resources for recreation, health, and future generations.
   

5. Something in the air: Suburban Omaha is now an Amazon drone zone (thereader.com) — Amazon's new Prime Air drones are now buzzing over suburban Omaha, delivering small packages from the Papillion warehouse into neighborhoods like west Omaha, Millard, La Vista, and Gretna. Residents and experts are weighing faster deliveries against noise, wildlife impacts, privacy worries, and potential threats to the 2,350 local delivery jobs that currently keep Omaha's packages moving.
