String Sprouts program at Omaha Conservatory of Music builds violin skills and confidence in kids (3newsnow.com) — Families in Omaha with kids ages 3 to 8 can now enroll in the Omaha Conservatory of Music's String Sprouts program, which offers low- or no-cost violin and string lessons. Parents and staff say the classes boost children's focus, confidence, and brain development, while also giving families a supportive community and chances to perform with a symphony.

Blackstone pizza place closes; restaurant owner cites Omaha streetcar construction toll (wowt.com) — An Omaha favorite, Noli's Blackstone, has temporarily closed after a cooler failure, with the owner saying ongoing Omaha Streetcar construction has already caused major financial and personal strain. While he's unsure if the Blackstone location will reopen, another nearby business reports doing well and remains optimistic the streetcar will ultimately benefit the neighborhood.
3. Omaha Metro area leads state in cottage kitchen food producers (thereader.com) — Home bakers in the Omaha metro are driving Nebraska's cottage kitchen boom, with 971 registered cottage bakeries in the city alone. Local entrepreneurs describe how porch coolers, farmers markets, and updated state laws let them sell cake pops and sourdough while balancing family life, and in some cases grow into full storefront bakeries.
4. Study looking into solutions for maternal mental health shortfalls in Nebraska (wowt.com) — An Omaha-based state senator is helping lead an interim study into why Nebraska lags in maternal mental health care and how policy, insurance, and services could be improved. From Omaha to rural areas, many new mothers face long drives, limited providers, and barriers to treatment, prompting new partnerships like the Mindful Moms program to better support perinatal mental health.
