Polina Gardens

Join Kyle Cippera, horticulture specialist, for a guided walking tour of Polina Gardens, Lauritzen Gardens’ first satellite location in Omaha’s Old Market. Explore its 150+ trees and shrubs, 22,000 perennials, and four distinct garden areas, and learn about the history of this block in the Omaha landscape and how it was transformed from a parking lot into a thriving green space.
 This garden was designed by world-renowned landscape designer Piet Oudolf, in collaboration with acclaimed landscape architecture and design firm James Corner Field Operations. The tour will showcase the timeline of the garden, from initial plans and designing to constructing and planting. Students are encouraged to bring cameras, as we will have time for photography and self-exploration of the gardens.

Unlock the art of "drawing with yarn" in this hands-on tapestry crochet workshop! Learn how to carry multiple skeins seamlessly through your rows to create clean color changes and intricate designs. Guided by instructor Zaleski, you will practice carrying yarn, working from a written pattern to build a finished design, and organizing your working threads to avoid tangles.
Skill Level &amp; Prerequisites
This intermediate/beginner workshop is best suited for makers who are comfortable with:
-Creating foundation chains -Working single crochet (SC) stitches -Counting stitches and rows accurately
What's Included
-All required crochet materials and yarn -Tapestry crochet pattern by Zaleski -Expert, step-by-step guidance

Make your miles matter at the 43rd Annual Creighton University School of Medicine Walk for Wishes 5K on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Chalco Hills Recreation Area at Wehrspann Lake.
Check-in begins at 8:00 AM outside the Chalco Hills Recreation Building. The 5K begins at 9:00 AM.
Registration includes a 2026 race shirt, refreshments, snacks, and one raffle ticket. Registration is $25 for students and $35 for adults, plus processing. Kids age 5 and under are free at checkout.
100% of event proceeds support Make-A-Wish® Nebraska and help create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
