Nevada Marijuana Legislation Signed And Vetoed By Governor
The new laws guarantee childproof packages for edible products and a ten percent sales tax.
Nevada's marijuana market continued to take shape Monday as Governor Sandoval signed three bills and vetoed one. The new laws cover everything from packaging to a sales tax.
The rejected bill - Assembly Bill 249 - would have allowed people to have their convictions sealed if they were connected to possession of up to one ounce of marijuana. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).
The governor says that is already possible and it would be wrong to require judges to seal cases.

The bills that Sandoval signed into law will impose a 10 percent tax on recreational marijuana, require childproof packaging for edible products, and lower the cost for some medical marijuana cards to $50.
The tax is expected to generate $70 million for the state's rainy day fund.
