• Rescue task force deploys from Nevada to help with anticipated New Mexico, Arizona flooding (kunc.org) — Boulder City Fire Department personnel are part of Nevada Task Force One, a 45-member water-rescue team deploying to New Mexico to help with flooding expected from Hurricane Polo's remnants. While the storm may only bring rain and cooler temperatures to southern Nevada, local rescuers could spend up to two weeks assisting communities in New Mexico and Arizona.
• A Wild Animal With Huge Eyes and a Raccoon Tail Showed Up at a Nevada Balcony and Left Everyone Stumped (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Two Boulder City residents recently woke up to scratching on their third-floor balcony door and discovered a rare ringtail, a shy nocturnal relative of the raccoon, staring back at them. Their video of the mystery visitor went viral as viewers tried to identify the animal, sparking a broader look at how uncommon and fascinating these desert creatures really are.
• Lawmakers want more transparency on data center projects built on public land (upr.org) — A controversial data center planned on public land near Boulder City has become a key test case, with an Interior appeals judge temporarily halting it over environmental review and public input concerns. Nevada Rep. Dina Titus and other Democrats are pressing Interior for more transparency on similar projects across the West and pushing legislation to ensure stronger oversight and community involvement.
