- Heading out on the town for New Year's Eve? Ride the Las Vegas Monorail all weekend for just $1 per ride. The $1 single-ride tickets are available at every station except the Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 31 with a valid Nevada ID. The Monorail will also be running for 44 hours straight, from 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, until 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- With COVID-19 cases on the rise, some Las Vegas area hospitals are approaching their capacity limits. Across the state, about 81 percent of inpatient beds and 85 percent of ICU beds in hospitals were occupied as of Dec. 16, according to data from Nevada health officials. While some Vegas facilities are only 50 to 60 percent occupied, others, like Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, are at or near 100 percent capacity. - A Vegas casino security team is credited with swiftly apprehending a gunman and avoiding further violence. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, there was a disturbance at the Santa Fe Station casino between a security guard and a man. The man shot and injured the guard, but other security guards moved quickly to corral the shooter before he was arrested by police. (KTNV Las Vegas)
