Here are the top stories today in Las Vegas:
- Las Vegas received $130M in pandemic aid, but received more than $2 billion in requests for American Rescue Plan funds. The $130 million allocation is slightly more than the federal aid the city received last year through the CARES Act. The city has five years to spend all $130 million, but Councilman Brian Knudsen said it will be key to distribute the dollars as quickly as possible. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- A 29-year-old man was ordered to serve up to 25 years behind bars for a central Las Vegas killing from two years ago. He must serve 10 at least years in prison before he is eligible for parole. Another man, who pleaded guilty to accessory to murder, was ordered to serve 180 days in the Clark County Detention Center. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an early-morning homicide leaving two shot and one dead near the Las Vegas Strip. (KTNV Las Vegas)
- Protesters gathered on the Las Vegas Strip on Tuesday morning to oppose mask and COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
- Police are searching for a pair of suspects in high-value thefts at Las Vegas stores. (News3LV)
