Here are the top stories today in Las Vegas:
- One in three families in Las Vegas do not have enough diapers they need to keep their infants clean, dry, and healthy. Kamelia Kohlmeier, mother of three and a realtor with Winning Realty has arranged a diaper and much needed baby supplies drive from Oct. 1 through Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday- Friday on behalf of Project 4 Humanity. Supplies needed in Clark County include diapers, (any size) diaper cream, baby oils, formula, new bottles, pacifiers, wipes, and new baby clothes. (Nevada Business Magazine)
- A man has been arrested for murder after police say an argument led to a deadly shooting at a Las Vegas apartment earlier this month. Miguel Perez, 26, was taken into custody on Friday for the deadly shooting reported on Sunday, Oct. 3, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement. He appeared to be under the influence of drugs and intoxicated. Perez is currently being held at Clark County Detention Center. (News 3 LV)
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released its annual Organ Procurement Organizations' (OPO) Aggregate Performance Report, naming Nevada Donor Network one of the top five highest-ranked OPOs in the country for both organ donation rates and organ transplantation rates. - In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Indian Center says the group wants the community to know there are about 63,000 indigenous Americans who live in the valley. (KTNV Las Vegas)
- The Cosmopolitan announced that it will once again open its rooftop ice rink for the holiday season. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
