Bed Bug Infestations At Two Hotels In Las Vegas Spark Legal Action

Four different guests are suing two different hotels in a premises liability lawsuit.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Infestations of bed bugs at two resort hotels in Las Vegas have caused legal action after four guests reported severe injuries.

The Luxor Hotel and Casino and Treasure Island are facing lawsuits for incidents that happened last summer. Three people are suing Luxor, and one person is suing Treasure Island.
In court documents, the three guests stated they were “massacred” by bed bugs and left with scars.
Plaintiffs reported bed bug bites, with one guest being moved to a new room at Treasure Island, only to find more bed bugs there. Another guest at Luxor required an ambulance and hospital visit due to a severe reaction to the bites, according to a lawsuit.

Several Las Vegas Strip hotels have been mentioned in reports and lawsuits concerning bed bugs, including Luxor, Treasure Island, Cosmopolitan, Resorts World, Bellagio and Hilton Grand Vacation Club.

Personal injury attorney Sam Ryan Heidari of the Heidari Law Group in Las Vegas stated "If you were a hotel guest, you may be entitled to compensation from the hotel for the inconvenience and potential health risks caused by bed bug infestation, Just like with slip-and-fall injuries getting bit by bed bugs at a hotel could be the basis of a premises liability lawsuit."

Hotels have a legal duty to maintain their premises in a safe and habitable condition for guests. This includes providing a room free from dangerous conditions like pest infestations.
Adult bed bugs are brown, flat and approximately the size of an apple seed. Rust-colored stains on a mattress or sheets can be evidence of their presence, and they tend to bite humans at night. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends checking your mattress and headboard upon check-in and keeping your luggage off the bed.
