Investigators Look To Decorative Foam In Bellagio Fire

There were no reported injuries in the fire, which was on the roof on the south side of Lake Bellagio.

Investigators are looking at decorative foam as part of the cause for the spread of the fire that burned the roof of the Bellagio Resort and Casino Thursday night. No one was injured in the two-alarm blaze that closed a stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard for a while.

Nearly 80 firefighters were on scene as the fire burned the roof about 40 feet above several stores, which were closed at the time.

The dramatic scene as flames shot from the roof were caught on video by people who posted to social media.

The fire was reported around 10:45. It took crews until about 11:10 to knock the fire down and bring it under control. Nearly 80 firefighters along with more than a dozen engines and trucks were involved in the operation.

Officials said that the operation was "extremely difficult" because of the location of the fire.

None of the guests staying in the hotel's 4,000 rooms were forced to evacuate.

It's been a tough few weeks for the storied hotel.

Last month, an armed robber wearing a pig mask- opened fire as he robbed the Tesorini jewelry store at the Bellagio. He smashed a window and made off with high-end watches before being caught. He's due back in court next month.
