🌱 Boring Co. Loop Approved + An Affordable Housing Development

Stay up to date on everything going on near you with the Las Vegas Daily.

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to get this day started. Here's what's happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and beautiful. High: 78 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Clark County commissioners approved plans for the Boring Co.'s Vegas Loop system Wednesday, moving the Elon Musk-owned transportation company closer to starting to dig the underground tunnels. The county's approval is only for the alignment of the proposed route. Each one of the planned 51 stops will need separate land use permits approved before being developed. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  2. Clark County commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve an affordable housing development, bringing the dream of homeownership to lower-income families. A new "for-sale affordable housing development" will be sold to families that earn less than 80% of the area median income, so a family of four could earn about $64,000 dollars a year to qualify. It's the first for-sale housing development in Clark County, as previous developments were for rent only. The lot is located in the southwest valley on Cactus Avenue between Rainbow Boulevard and Buffalo Drive. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  3. Police have arrested a man in connection with the killing of his roommate in Las Vegas.(KTNV Las Vegas)
  4. The lifelong impact of PTSD on servicemen and women is well documented and a local woman is currently trying to help others cope and heal from the condition. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  5. Walker Furniture's new Feeding Vegas campaign is running for 45 days through October 25 with a goal to feed more than 15,000 people. (News3LV)
