Clark County By-Appointment, Drive-Thru Coronavirus Testing To Be Offered In Laughlin

Clark County in collaboration with the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, Southern Nevada Health District and other community partners will offer by appointment-only, drive-thru testing for COVID-19 in Laughlin, Nev., on Tuesday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 13, at the Aquarius Casino Resort, 1900 S. Casino Drive.

Starting Wednesday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Laughlin residents may call to register and make an appointment for a test by calling (702) 298-2214, extension 4 or 5. Five hundred tests per day will be available on May 12 and May 13. The testing, which will take place inside the valet area of the resort's parking garage from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. next week, is free and open to Laughlin residents only. Pre-registration by phone is required to reserve an appointment and may be made May 6-8. The Laughlin Chamber of Commerce is organizing volunteers to schedule the appointments on a first-come, first-served basis until all available appointments are scheduled.

Laughlin residents who book tests for next week must present identification upon arrival. Testing recipients should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled appointments. The type of testing being offered at the site is polymerase chain reaction tests, better known as PCR tests, which show whether someone currently has the coronavirus.

Officials say as plans are put into place to re-open businesses and facilities in phases, it will continue to be important for residents to help limit the spread of COVID-19 by social distancing and wearing face coverings in public places, washing hands and practicing good cough and sneeze hygiene, and limiting your contact with others if you test positive for the virus or someone in your immediate household does.
