The Las Vegas Daily is the quickest way to get caught up on what's happening today in Las Vegas.

Hey, Las Vegas! Here's everything you need to know to get this Saturday started off right. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today in Las Vegas.

First, today's weather:

Warm with plenty of sunshine. High: 81 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony says he intends to run for state lieutenant governor in 2022. The state lieutenant governor post is currently vacant after Democrat Kate Marshall resigned in September to join President Joe Biden's administration. Anthony joins two other announced Republican candidates: former state Treasurer Dan Schwartz and Mack Miller, who ran previously for state Assembly and Las Vegas mayor. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  2. Returning to the workforce continues to be a challenge for many parents who have trouble finding childcare. Across the Las Vegas Valley, parents face a predicament seen across the country: waiting lists for daycare and childcare facilities. Economists say that 1.6 million mothers have not returned to the workforce, and the lack of childcare is a contributing factor. Closures of some facilities during the pandemic, as well as a shortage of childcare workers, factors into the reasons for a lack of daycare spots. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  3. A suspect connected to deadly shooting outside of a gas station early Thursday morning has been identified as 22-year-old Jesus J. Uribe. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  4. With a vegan food pantry that gives out 100-percent vegan items to the food insecure and the opening of a new vegan cooking school, the vegan community is expanding in Las Vegas. (KNPR)
  5. Las Vegas has held the distinction of having the world's tallest observation wheel, the High Roller, since 2014 but that is no longer the case. The world's new tallest ferris wheel is Ain Dubai in Dubai. (vitalvegas.com)
