COVID Milestone In Clark County + Water Conservation Landscaping

Here's a five-minute guide to all things going on today in Las Vegas.

Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. More than 70 percent of people 12 years of age and older in Clark County have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines. The news comes as the COVID-19 positivity rate is declining in Clark County. "This achievement is a demonstration of how committed our community members are to taking care of themselves and each other," said Dr. Fermin Leguen, District Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District.   2. Las Vegas is in the midst of a historic drought, looming federal restrictions, and climate change. Larry Fossa, a trained "grass-assin" in Sun City Anthem, is replacing grass with flowering plants, shrubs, and other drought-tolerant landscaping. By replacing grass with drought-tolerant landscaping, Fossan has shown the massive HOA community in Henderson that saving water holds many benefits. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  3. The housing shortage has created a crisis for renters across the Las Vegas Valley and many are worried about the terms of lease renewals and sticker shock for increases in rent. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  4. Las Vegas woman, Sharifa Wahab, is continuing the fight to help get people out of Afghanistan and to safety. (News3LV)
  5. Las Vegas Police report they are investigating a situation in which a woman's body was found in a casino parking lot on Las Vegas Boulevard. (KTNV Las Vegas)
