The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

(Patch Media)

Hello, people of Las Vegas! Rachel Kilimnik here with the Saturday edition of the Las Vegas Daily.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 70 Low: 45.

Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. A Las Vegas nonprofit that assists sex workers and survivors of trafficking has a big vision for a modest building in downtown Las Vegas. The Cupcake Girls, named for its original mission of supporting sex workers by handing out cupcakes in strip clubs, is preparing to move its national headquarters to East Charleston Boulevard, where it will serve both its clients and its neighbors. The building, set to open in June, will also house co-working space and a fresh-food market, a rarity in downtown Las Vegas. (KNPR)
  2. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is trying to identify a man accused of shooting a clerk at a convenience store in east Las Vegas on Monday. Police shared photos of a man who they say walked into the store and had a fight with the clerk. As he was leaving, police say he fired one round and hit the clerk, who was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  3. Las Vegas police say a man facing charges of mayhem and assault bit part of another man's ear off during a fight. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  4. Experts say it's not a matter of "if" this new variant arrives here in Las Vegas, but when. (News3LV)
  5. The Chippendales and Mayor Carolyn Goodman will be in attendance at this year's Great Santa Run in downtown Las Vegas. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
