Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:
- Schools for emergency medical service workers say they can't keep up with the demand for employees across the valley and the country as the medical field struggles with a shortage of workers. The Clark County Commission recently examined the issue of a shortage of workers among ambulance companies and described concerns over response times. Workers either were laid off, took buyouts, retired or quit due to burnout. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- Las Vegas police say a man shot at officers and put his 2-year-old son in danger moments before a deadly shooting involving the department. Officers say 21-year-old Demetrius Roberts was hiding behind a car with his mother and 2-year-old child inside, and that one of his bullets shot through the car. Officers fired back and Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene. (KTNV Las Vegas)
- Las Vegas PRIDE will host its annual LGBTQ+ Night Parade on October 8 in downtown Las Vegas. There will be multiple PRIDE events throughout the weekend. (News3LV)
- The Las Vegas Boulevard on-ramp to northbound I-515 will close for three weeks so the Nevada Department of Transportation can perform rehabilitation work on the ramp. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- The world's largest car collector auction returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center. About 1,000 American muscle cars, Corvettes, exotic cars and more are on display at Mecum Auctions through Oct. 9. (KTNV Las Vegas)
