Here are the top 3 stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. Hundreds to thousands of Las Vegas concertgoers rushed to exits after rumors of gunfire in the area spread, leading to people being trampled. The reports of gunfire turned out to be unfounded, but at least three people were injured in the confusion. (Casino.Org News)
  2. Several hundred people are against another Dotty's gaming venue in Las Vegas. Reportedly, close to 600 people have signed a petition opposing the opening of KLAS, as critics do not want crime from the gambling operation to develop in the neighborhood. Opponents are especially concerned after a nearby Dotty's gaming venue was the recent site of a murder and robbery. (Casino.Org News)
  3. A Las Vegas teen has inspired a social media movement through the Desert Balloon Project, an initiative to save threatened desert tortoises across Nevada. The movement's Facebook page has more than 700 followers, with people regularly posting and submitting photos of balloons they discover in the desert, encouraging others to clean up the trash. Tortoises often eat the balloons, mistaking them for flowers, which causes them to suffocate. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
