Help R Heroes Participated in Two October Veteran Events
Las Vegas Non-Profit Attends MCON 2024 Convention and Nevada Military Order of the Purple Heart Fundraiser
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, October 30, 2024 – Last weekend Help R Heroes, a Las Vegas non-profit that benefits veterans in need, participated in two events dedicated to celebrating the men and women who answered the call to serve the United States.
Gary Scaife, a U.S. Navy Vietnam and founder of Help R Heroes, said the MCON 2024 military convention and the Nevada Military Order of the Purple Heart’s Halloween Bowl-a-Thon Fundraiser offered attendees wonderful venues to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes.
At the MCON 2024 event at The Expo at World Market Center, Scaife and Kris Cesena showcased gift items handmade by Nevada veterans. Cesena, the owner of Pinspiration Las Vegas and a HRH board member, lends free studio space to veterans to design and create a wide range of handcrafts. HRH also trains veterans on starting a business to sell their handcrafted and manufactured goods.

As a sponsor of the Nevada Military Order of the Purple Heart’s Halloween Bowl-a-Thon Fundraiser at the Suncoast Bowling Center, HRH supported the mission of the MOPH. The MOPH strives to promote camaraderie and goodwill amongst wounded combat veterans and their families. Scaife and Asal “Vox” Gibson represented HRH at the event. Gibson, a HRH board member, oversees the organization’s veteran training and support programs. She took a break from her non-profit managerial role to test her bowling mettle and help raise donations for the MOPH.
Scaife said attendees, sponsors, and organizers of both events demonstrated widespread appreciation and support of veterans or heroes best described by author and Vietnam veteran Joseph Campbell: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
