Here are the top stories in Las Vegas today:
- Clark County and the Las Vegas Indian Center partnered yesterday afternoon to host the second annual Indigenous People's Day cultural event and car parade. The parade departed from the Winchester Dondero Center and caravaned to the Strip and back. The date is part of a nationwide movement to promote visibility among Indigenous people through historical education, acknowledging indigenous lands, and fighting discrimination. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
- Students from Cadwallader Middle School designed angel wings to honor those who lost their lives in Las Vegas on Oct. 1, 2017. The students created 58 pairs of life-sized angel wings, one for each victim of the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. The Angel Wings Project was started by Mrs. Christine Janette, a teacher who survived the concert shooting. The initiative also includes a scholarship fundraiser for the 55 children left behind. - Southern Glazer's Wine, Beer, & Spirits of Nevada will be donating $10,000 to beloved local nonprofit Keep Memory Alive. (News3LV)
- In an effort to boost diversity in the technology sector, local organization Las Vegas Techies paired female IT professionals with middle and high school students. (News3LV)
- After closing temporarily due to the pandemic, the adults-only show OPIUM at The Cosmopolitan celebrated 1001 performances last week. (Broadway World)
