Las Vegas Man In Shootout That Left One Dead, One Wounded, Claims Self-Defense

The gunfight at an apartment complex in the northeast Valley happened just after midnight, Wednesday morning.

A man being questioned by police told officers that he shot in self-defense when he fired his gun early Wednesday morning. The man, whose name has not been released, was the only one not injured in the fight, which left one dead and one injured.

The shooting happened around 12:40 Wednesday morning at an apartment complex on the 4300 block of Lamont Street near Cheyenne Avenue.

Both shooting victims were rushed to University Medical Center where one died and the other, who had been shot in the leg, is expected to recover.

The gun used by the man who died was found in a dumpster. A rifle belonging to the man who was wounded, was found in an apartment. The man who survived and was not wounded told officers he was acting in self-defense. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).
