Las Vegas Police Investigate Ninth Officer-Involved Shooting Of 2017
Police say that the man had a knife that he refused to drop.
Las Vegas Police patrol officers shot and killed a man who they said refused to drop a knife Tuesday morning. It was the ninth officer-involved shooting of the year.
It happened just after midnight on the 1100 block of South Cimarron Road.
Captain Kelly McMahill of the Department's Office of Internal Oversight said that arriving patrol officers responded to a report of domestic violence. The call had said there was a woman with a child and the woman was screaming.

They used their public address system to coax people out and eventually a woman and child exited the apartment. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).
Officers then went inside where they were confronted by a man with a knife.

Police say that the man refused to drop the knife and they used electronic stun devices to no avail.
The man then "lunged aggressively" at the officers and at least two of them fired their guns.
He was rushed to University Medical Center where was pronounced dead.
