Las Vegas Shooting: UNLV Hockey Coach Shot In Chest

Assistant coach Nick Robone was shot at a Jason Aldean concert Sunday night, the Skatin' Rebels men's ice hockey team said in a statement.

LAS VEGAS, NV — An assistant coach for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas hockey team, the Skatin' Rebels, was among the victims shot at a Jason Aldean concert Sunday night, the team said.

Nick Robone had to have surgery to remove a bullet from his chest, the Skatin' Rebels men's ice hockey team said in a statement Monday. He is out of surgery and was in the intensive care unit.

Robone needed a ventilator to help him breath but was in stable condition, General Manager Zee Khan said. The bullet missed Robone's lung, the team said. He is expected to fully recover but will be hospitalized "for the near future."

Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada, was armed with more than a half-dozen firearms – some of them high-powered automatic weapons – when he started shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino at a crowd gathered for a music festival. In the span of about two minutes, he massacred at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others in the deadliest mass shooting in United States history. Then, as police closed in on him, Paddock killed himself, officials said.
