Las Vegas Stabbings: Police Bust Suspect In Attacks That Left One Dead

Police say that the three attacks may be related.

The man believed responsible for a series of stabbings in Las Vegas Wednesday is in custody. The Las Vegas Police Metropolitan Police Department say that 32-year-old Richi Briones was arrested at a bus stop by U.S. Highway 95 and Boulder Highway.

Briones was the target of a massive search after three stabbings and a fourth attempt on Wednesday morning.

Police say that the attacks all happened in the area of East Charleston and North Lamb Boulevards and that they may all be related. They believe the victims were chosen at random.

The first incident - an attempted attack - happened by a convenience store on the 4300 block of Stewart Avenue.

Police say that soon after he tried to buy a gun at a store on East Charleston Boulevard. It was there that Metropolitan Police obtained his name from the application he filled out.

Around 10:15, Briones allegedly stabbed a man near a sushi restaurant on the 4400 block of East Charleston. That person was brought to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The third attack happened about 30 minutes later on North Lamb Boulevard. police say that Briones walked into a convenience store by Lamb Boulevard and Bonanza Road, grabbed a customer, and stabbed him several times.

That person later died at University Medical Center.

Briones, who has at least three previous arrests in Nevada and California - on charges including domestic violence and auto theft - was taken into custody around 7 p.m..
