Las Vegas Wynn Master Classes For The Offering

Learn to make a cake, break bread, brew beer.

Any casino can offer classes about playing poker or blackjack and many do. The Wynn Las Vegas is trying to up the ante a bit - offering what it is calling a series of Master Classes that will teach people about topics ranging from sushi to what it's like to run a sports book.

The luxury resort is offering 13 separate classes. They start on July 20 with the one topic that's expected- perfecting your poker face - and continuing through December 16 with treat trimming so you can learn to create edible holiday ornaments with the help of the resort's executive pastry chef.

The classes are either $125 or $150 per person. There are between eight and 45 slots per class. The resort has a website set up with more information. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch)

In between the first class and the last class:

  • MASTERING BREAD BAKING July 27 at 1 p.m. - Join master artisan baker Johann Willar as he shares his favorite recipes, techniques and tips for baking at home.
  • SOMMELIER FOR A DAY August 3 at 3 p.m. - Collaborate with director of wine Mark Thomas to create Wynn’s newest offering of globally-inspired wines.
  • BREWMASTER CLASS August 10 at 3 p.m. - Explore the art of brewing beer with executives from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.
  • ODDSMAKER FOR A DAY August 18 at 1 p.m. Attend a casual roundtable lunch with oddsmaker Johnny Avello at the newly renovated Wynn Race & Sports Book.
  • SUSHI MASTER CLASS September 15 at 12 p.m. - Perfect your technique for achieving restaurant-caliber sushi alongside chefs Kitt Xaiyasiha and Devin Hashimoto.
  • MASTER CAKE DECORATING September 28 at 2 p.m. - Flora Aghababyan opens her cake studio to share her secrets for making showstopping cakes.
  • A TASTE OF CROSSROADS October 5 at 12 p.m. - In this master class on conscious cooking, Celebrity Chef Tal Ronnen shares his philosophy for a plant-based kitchen.
  • DUMPLING MASTER CLASS October 19 at 12 p.m. - Master dim sum chef Sandy Shi and Red 8 chef Chen Wei Chan divulge the secrets to making perfect Chinese dumplings.
  • WHISKY AND CIGARS November 9 at 3 p.m. - Learn about the world of premium whisky and cigars with beverage director Alaina Alexander.
  • CHOCOLATE MASTER CLASS December 7 at 2 p.m. - Get an interactive demo in chocolate making with executive pastry chef Patrice Caillot.
  • CHAMPAGNE WISHES December 14 at 3 p.m. - Director of wine Mark Thomas leads this intimate Champagne and small bites tasting session.
